Disarray Desnarler
The Desktopordnungsamt brings you the world's #1 DIY customizable digital desktop organizer with re-chaotization feature that looks cool on your desk. That's short for: a DIY kit to solder, program and flash your own macropad and configure it to your personal requirements.
Our initial use case was to help people get in touch with workspaces on their OS, but everyone should build their very own experience: favorite shortcuts, most used software, or even a MIDI controller for their favorite piece of equipment.
The heart of the macropad is an RP2040. Version 0.5 uses a Seeed Xiao RP2040, version 1 switched to an RP2040-Zero. After prototyping on a breadboard, the schematics went onto a PCB designed in KiCad: four hot-swappable Cherry MX-style key switches, a 75 mm fader, an SPDT switch and three LEDs.
The key switches are multiplexed in rows and columns, with a diode on each switch against ghosting. A switch on the back toggles between two configurations, the fader is buffered with a capacitor and read via the ADC, and the LEDs show which layer is active.
It runs QMK. The docs include a flashing guide and configurations for OS workspace navigation, a MIDI controller and some simple key combos. All code and files are open source under the MIT license. Built with Hillary and Julia, and taught as a workshop at 39C3.
